I want to find the best to snapshot my system so in case I install something and want to remove it, I would roll back to a previous snapshot so I won;t be left with lots of junk unnecessary files or leftovers.
I have already read here and searched. But as usual I prefer to ask the experts (developers, users).
I am on KDE, default everything during installation.
I tried and installed TimeShift through Discover, it got installed but strangely clicking on it nothing happens! I wonder why!Should I try install again?
Anyway, I previously on EndeavourOS tried BTRFS, snapper... etc. and it was great and fits the bill. The only issue I had was that Baloo didn't play well with this and I used to have several search results of the same file all pointing to the same file. (if I have 3 snapshots + the original I get 4 search results)
I would like to hear from you what do you think about the best software to do incremental snapshots of the system? I don't care about the data on my home folder, this is another thing.
Any of those apps can automatically take snapshots before I install a new software or before I get an update? As far as I know it is a BTRFS thing mainly.
When I was on EndeavourOS I ditched Baloo and used recoll instead. What do you think.
I just thought maybe I use any of the softwares above in the title, maybe create a hook to automatically take a snapshot (run the program to take snapshot) before something gets installed or system updated.
Briefly, for now, what do you think is the best software for taking snapshots?
I hope to hear from someone who tried them and tell me what you think.
I will appreciate your feedback.
Thank you.
UPDATE:
And hopefully it would help.
Searching why TimeShift didn't work I found it was because I needed to do:which is required for running TimeShift as it runs with elevated privelages.

Searching why TimeShift didn't work I found it was because I needed to do:
Code:
sudo apt-get install pkexec
