I'm using GNOME on Debian 12.5 stable with wayland in a VirtualBox VM and the Synaptic display is garbled as shown in the attached image:

I read posts that Synaptic has problems with wayland but Synaptic is part of the GNOME install, I did not install Synaptic, and when I ran Synaptic, it prompted me for the root pw. In posts I read on Synaptic not working in root mode, there was no mention of a garbled display. Also, I navigated to /usr/sbin and ran, not as root, ./synaptic and it started without issue.
In regards to a replacement for Synaptic on GNOME I found the preinstalled GNOME Software app. Anyone know if there is functionality in Synaptic which GNOME Software is missing? If GNOME Software is missing functionality are there any recommendations for Synaptic on GNOME?
Thanks
