Hardware • Trying to set up a 2nd Wifi adapter

Hi all, first post here, Debian user for several years, off and on...

I'm running Debian 12 on an HP Elitebook 830 G6. It uses an Intel AX200 wireless adapter that's currently giving me fits. In the meantime, I figured I'd just use my USB Edimax adapter to surf the web until a solution is found. Here's the current dilemma:

The Edimax is clearly listed in "lsusb" but I see no way to create a new network connection specifying which adapter to use. I see the "Restrict to device" option, but when I choose the Edimax adapter, the wireless connection disappears from the available networks in the tray. I created a new connection from scratch, restricting it to the Edimax. When I click the Networks icon in the tray, the new connection is not listed.

Am I doing something wrong? I've used this same Edimax adapter without issue on another Debian 12 installation (different laptop).

Thanks very much...
