I've just spent an hour messing with this: I have four OS's and with Debian controlling grub; Mint won't boot. I get "Out of memory, press any key to continue". I gave grub control to Ubuntu and Mint boots fine. I've compared Debian and Ubuntu grubs; both the same. In case I missed something, I replaced Debian's grub with Ubuntu's and tried again; same message "Out of memory". so put Debian's grub back in tact; so back to square one. I gave Ubuntu grub so I can boot into Mint. I have 16GB RAM and roughly a 10GB Swap file.
