Beginners Questions • Lost internet connection suddenly

Hello everyone. I'm new to Linux and recently started a virtual machine on Virtualbox with Debian GNU 12 on it with a bridged network adapter. I configured a static IP address on my Debian machine, which worked fine for a few days.

Today, however, my machine doesn't seem to have internet access of some kind. I'm not a networking specialist either but I can't seem to ping www.google.com or download packets from github anymore. Ping 8.8.8.8 DOES work. The things I've tried so far are
- restarting the network services
- reboot the machine
- tried a different IP address

I've read some things about proxies or DNS changes but I'm not sure what I need to check exactly.

Can anyone help me out a bit or send me to the right direction? Thank you very much in advance!
