I don't know if this the correct place for this.

How can I have a correct layout and media keys working also.

I installed debian unstable on a late 2009 macbook, i noticed almost immediatly that the media keys that control sound were not working (mute, keycode 113; volumedown, keycode 114; volumeup, keycode 115).
Tried to install pommed but did not work.
Also noticed that the keyboard layout did not match the keyboard stencil, it's a Portuguese keyboard.
So I decided to edit /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/pt "mac" section and was able to make the layout match the keys on the computer (and the full portuguese mac layout).
Complete pt layout file with error:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugrepo ... e=pt;msg=5

When i did this the media keys started working and I don't know why.
Then I noticed I made a mistake in the symbol table. I had a double entry for AC07 key:
key <AC06> { [ h, H, caron, 0x010002C7 ] };
key <AC07> { [ j, J, macron, 0x010000AF ] };
key <AC08> { [ k, K, doublelowquotemark, singlelowquotemark ] };
key <AC09> { [ l, L, leftsinglequotemark, rightsinglequotemark ] };
key <AC07> { [ ccedilla, Ccedilla, cedilla, ogonek ] };
key <AC11> { [ dead_tilde, dead_circumflex, 0x010002DC, 0x010002C6 ] };

When I corrected the error on the symbols table, after a reboot the media keys stoped working again. If I reintroduce the error, the media keys start working again (after reboot).
this is my /etc/default/keyboard

XKBMODEL="macbook79"
XKBLAYOUT="pt"
XKBVARIANT="mac"
XKBOPTIONS="lv3:ralt_switch"
BACKSPACE="guess"

How can I have a correct layout and media keys working also.
