Hello, I have installed Debian 12 using debootstrap and when GRUB loads the kernel and the initramfs, it gets an OOM, even though I have plenty more RAM (24GB). The kernel then panics and I get the following message:
I am getting the same errors when trying to boot up a Bookworm GNOME Live OS from a DVD.
I have searched the internet and found a similar bug on Ubuntu's bugtracker: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oem-priority/+bug/1842320
Code:
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)

The kernel takes up 8MB, and I made my initramfs around 20-30MB (stock settings go to 75MB).In some cases, if the users’ initramfs grow bigger, then it’ll likely not be able to be loaded by grub2.
