Hi,
Main question: Do applications that use Wayland require a desktop environment that uses Wayland, in order to run?
Sub-questions (i.e. related questions that may clarify) Do Linux applications use Wayland through their respective GUI toolkit e.g. Qt, GTK? Can Linux apps use Wayland directly?
For example, I prefer OpenBox DE and I don't think that OpenBox uses Wayland. Could an application that I start from an OpenBox DE still use Wayland if it's build to use Wayland?
