I need some advice from your wealth of experience.
I am evaluating KATE and KDevelop to use for python and C/C++ development. I can use different IDEs too. Say one IDE for Python and other one for C/C++. What I need are the following
1) Good code formatting, code autocompletion, syntax and error highlighting.
2) Ability to compile and debug from the IDE itself.
3) Ability to use lint tools.
4) Ability to choose the compiler/interpreter to use.
5) Ability to handle projects and GIT.
For Python I was previously using pycharm but I am running up against its licensing terms. For C/C++ I am using eclipse but it way too heavy and bloated.
What would you suggest? If you have used one of these, i.e KATE or KDevelop, or both can you please give your inputs? When should one prefer KATE and when should one prefer KDevelop?
Any opinions, suggestions and tips would be welcome.
