Hi,
I think I mentioned this but I'm not positive that I did; we had our VM adjusted and alloted towards more CPU processing power.
The change happened last month and I paused any server administration tasks to monitor the server itself, the server load, and server traffic to see the results of the increase in processing power. Now with a baseline from those results, over the next few days I will be tweaking some of our server configurations to take advantage of the additional processing power. As this is a live/production system [Danger!], I am doing frequent backups prior to any change then waiting 12 hours to see the effect for an unconventional control group.
Over the course of the next few days you may see on the front page a witty (hilarious in my opinion
) Forums are down message about lunch, a papercut on my index finger, or something to that effect. Be assured the forums are still good, if you can see the downtime message and not a webserver 500 error message then things are working and you probably caught me right in the middle of a backup prior to a *minor* change.
Currently I am working on the email system, you may receive a few bounced emails or not receive email notifcations for threads or PMs you have recieved. This should clear up on December 13, 2024.
Since no one ever reads these things but hops quickly and straight to the email complaint button:
I'd like to Thank you all for your patience, but I hate those words when on a phone call waiting for a company representative to answer the line. So I now dedicate this thread for venting about bad haircuts you got as a child or the worst dining experience you may have had as an adult.
My contribution is my wife had bangs as a child and it was tramatizing. Instead of saying, 'Lets bang this task out quickly' I say instead, 'Lets put some hair bangs on this task'. Shes not amused but the guy in the mirror and I find it absolutely hilarious.
Update 1. December 13, 2024
Like someone stuck at a shopping center while one's car is being repaired, we upgraded the forum software to the latest version and updated a few other core components while we await the other changes to kick in on the email side. WIth this update the server and web processes seem to be fine. We will let this sit for 12 hours to see if any extensions did not convert well or if a gremlin pops up.
Tomorrow we increase memory allotments for some services.
**thanks for your patience.![Smile :)]()
