Installation • bookworm netinst did not install wifi firmware

I did a net install of bookworm, with the non free firmware controlling my wifi. Once I booted to the new OS, I discovered I had no wifi. Much to my surprise, the firmware package was not installed.

Any idea as to why this happened?

I chose the non-free firmware option for my sources.list file.
