(No problem, recovering from migraine, still getting there, re-edit and hope this is coherent enough, if not feel free to delete)
I did an update (on testing), and also added the kde , gnome desktop tasks to look at after not liking some of the current mate changes
(perhaps i should have posted under testing in retrospect) which kept locking me out even after disabling that in the screensaver options ?
But i now find that the mini pc aka "MIDGARD" appears to have been locked down, the only service i can access from outside is ssh, which
i use to connect on the lan. It works fine ( MIDGARD runs headless but is connected to the TV) , its quieter then my desktop.
openvpn, samba, web server, x11vnc for remote viewer acccess and run thunderbird etc, jellyfin, rsync and more etc are still running fine but i can no longer access them from my desktop, or the androids.
I was wondering if anyone might be aware of daemons, services coming with the desktop tasks kde/gnome, or Debian in general that enables
locking down access like this ,i though of iptables but iptables show no blocking rules
The Desktop is not running linux
I realize the info is scant, but would anyone have any pointers at what services or such might allow for such a lock down,as daemon/service or config setting.
It has been some years since i had to delve this deep, so im not to familiar any more with the various new programs/services, ironically because everything has been chugging along pretty good ( hmm bar the odd bluetooth audo niggle )
ie how many ways could one lockdown debian like i guess.
ANyway im continuing poking around seeing if i can find "enlightenment" , hmm no pun intended there by the way i remember running that waaaay back
I hope this is clearer, if not feel free to delete
Having one of those challenging weeks it seems
And thank you for your time
