Installation • Installer trap: No root file system defined

Preferred:
  • no LVM
  • encryption for "/"
  • no encryption for "/boot"
  • "/swap" is a concern for later
This did not work with the Debian 12 installer. It does not seem possible to proceed with the installation because "/", root, is not preserved or not allocated after the partition window.

The graphical installation program was used. Running cryptsetup and fdisk in expert mode was also unsuccessful. Building an empty LUKS container for "/", before starting the installation was destroyed during installation.

This link says: "Scroll to 'encrypted volume' and select the partition listed beneath to edit it. -- Set mount point to "/" (root)" That is not visible, simply missing.

My current plan: do an install and then move "/" to a LUKS container for "/" and modify grub. Complex and besides not very convenient.

Is there a smarter solution for this? Help here is more than welcome!
